Search Tips

Through the digital records web search subsystem you can search and view digital records and pertinent data entered into the system.

For access to the records use one of the following search methods:

  • Simple search: You can search phrases or words contained in the data related to digitized records that have been entered into the system and have been made available on the internet. You can search one or two terms.
  • Advanced search: You can search phrases or words contained in predefined sets of data related to digitized records that have been entered into the system and have been made available on the internet. You can combine searches for two text fields and four list fields (predefined terms). The operator for multiple search criteria is AND.
  • Browsing: To perform a serial navigation among the records of the archival collections you can select one archive following the classification method of the archive collection.

Special tips for the dates

The dates entered into the system follow the format
Year--Month--Date. For example: 1837 March 7.

Special tips for the lists

The lists have been sorted in alphabetical order. In the Greek version the Greek alphabet precedes the Latin. Use the list to select the first letter of the word of the phrase you wish to search, find the word or phrase from the list, double-click and enter the term in the search form.

Access to the record

The search result is a list of record titles with a thumbnail of the first image of the digitized record. Double-clicking on the thumbnail produces a full size enlargement of the first image. Double-clicking the record title produces the record's identity and content description form.

The thumbnails of the digitized record appear below the description form. The enlarged image of the digitized page of the record appears in front of the record description by selecting a thumbnail. You can drag, enlarge and reduce the image and continue viewing the record description form. In the case of multi-page records use the arrows to navigate to the previous or the next page.
